IMO, one of the best looking Porsche’s around.

I always found the rounded 993/928-ish front end styling was a poor match for the boxy 944-ish rest of it.
But it has the best bits of all the 944 versions (brakes, suspension, transmission), minus a turbo.
Slap a turbo on it though...

No, they’re hideous, no one should buy them. Ever. *
*I love the 968. I want them to drop in value so I can have a whole fleet of them.

You can get them cheaper. It’s called the 924 :p

I still want a 928 more but I totally get it.

The turbo’d version was the 968 RS... and yes, you can duplicate them. I used to know someone with one actually. It was just as fast as a 996 Turbo in a straight line (so to say it was fast was an understatement) but the sad part is, is that it probably cost the same as that 996tt new, lol.

Sorry, I had to!

The Turbo RS had a version of the old 2.5 liter 8v motor from the 944 Turbo. But you can add a turbo to the 968’s 3.0 liter 16v VarioCam motor for even more fun.

I have had a plan in my head for probably 15-20 years...
Mashup of the best from 951 (944 Turbo), 944S2, and 968, all rolled in to one car.
I like the front half of 968, but not the back as much as the back-cut 944 tail panel, thin bumper, and under-spoiler. the sharper rear quarter window shape is nicer, too. Usually I like flush mounted glass, but the 968’s flush mounted quarter windows stand out as different against the door glass and rear hatch, which both have exposed framework, the 944’s framed quarter windows match that, and have a sharper angle.
As I said, I do like the aerodynamic 928-style front end, 964/993 style front marker lights and bumper cover, the smooth rockers, aero mirrors, and the wing, rather than the flexible rubber spoiler. I like the iconic front end of the 951 and 944S2, but the 968 is slick.
There are even fender kits that further simplify, and use 993 fixed headlights, instead of the 928-style lay-back headlights.
I also like the DOHC Variocam 16-valve 3.oL engine, and the rear 6-speed transaxle of the 968, and the specialist tuner PowerHaus has a track record of turbocharging that 16 valve engine to enormous effect. Even Porsche didn’t do that, the factory 968 Turbo S (yellow, pictured above) and Turbo RS homologation cars were 8-valve SOHC engines updated from the 944 Turbo.
Merging the best of them into one car would be fantastic. Plus, I would delete the rear seats, use the M030 suspension, and maybe some 996 Turbo hollow-spoke wheels, or maybe a nice set of TechArt Formula wheels, to really set it off.
Silver Rose (88 944 Turbo S special edition, pictured above) over maroon red leather is always a great color combo on these cars, too.

I wish they would too.
